HAHN Academy: your start, your apprenticeship & your development at HAHN

HAHN Academy: your entry, your apprenticeship & your development at HAHN

Your entry: How do we welcome you?

Your onboarding at HAHN Group starts even before your first day of work: You will receive the first welcome letter from our People & Culture Bot, called Penelope, via automated mail. Penelope informs you one week before your start about the schedule of your first working day. To keep the current team up to date about the new HAHN employees, all new colleagues will be introduced by e-mail with their name, location, function and a photo before they start.

The first day begins for all new employees with a guided factory tour and our safety guidelines. Following that, you will learn more about our internal processes and workflows in our day 1 workshop. With a welcome gift we would like to show you our appreciation and our pleasure to have you on board. From now on, your functional department will take over and you will get to know your team and your workplace.

For an easier start and to support your familiarization, you will receive your individual orientation plan right at the beginning. Part of this is an introduction to our ERP, IT and travel system. The sessions are offered in a hybrid format so everyone can take part.

During the first week, you will also participate in our “Welcome@HAHN” event. This is where we welcome all new colleagues throughout our Company. You will receive information about our company and our corporate culture in form of presentations from internal experts, interactive exchanges and videos. Our management also joins and gives you exciting insights into HAHN’s vision and strategy.

Your apprenticeship: What can you expect as an apprentice?

At the beginning of your apprenticeship, you are invited to a virtual event with all new apprentices across our locations from Germany and Austria. You’ll get to know each other, gain initial insights into the group of companies, and interactively try out great technologies.

After about six months, you will finally meet in person at one of the HAHN locations. During the two-day get-together, you will learn more about the company network, go through various stations at the location and complete exciting tasks together. Of course, the fun factor shouldn’t be forgotten either, so one of the days is used exclusively for leisure activities, such as laser tag or bowling.

Our social media channel @hahn.group.careers shows various insights into the world of training at HAHN as part of the Azubi@Friday campaign. You have the creative freedom to use your cell phone and take the followers with you into your daily work routine – show them your area of responsibility at first hand. More joint projects, including international assignment programs, will follow in the future, so that a continuous exchange of apprentices in the entire group is guaranteed and you can experience a lot.

Your development: How do we support your talent?

To advance your professional and personal development, we are currently in the process of establishing our HAHN Academy. The HAHN Academy is the home of various continuing education programs categorized by area of expertise. As a pilot project, we launched the Sales Academy in 2021. Based on this pilot, we are developing other ongoing training programs: Project Management, Leadership, Service and more. Gradually, the HAHN Academy will offer important development measures, trainings and formats to every department – in presence as well as virtually worldwide for all employees!

Our education programs are divided into 3 levels: Basic, Advanced and Professional. These levels build on each other and show you where you can develop in the future. In all three levels, we support HAHN’s internal know-how as well as technical competencies and personal and social skills.

For us it is important not to rely only on classic “frontal training”. Instead, we use fun and interactive teaching formats:

  • As part of our mentoring program, new employees are assigned experienced and competent mentors. The aim is for them to pass on their know-how, provide support with individual challenges and share valuable experience. In addition, the mentor gains important leadership experience that develops him or her personally.
  • As part of the Peer Learning Days, we divide all participants into small virtual “peer groups”. The special thing about this is that the groups include colleagues who work in different companies, speak different languages and even come from different industries. This heterogeneity is what makes the exchange of information about specialist topics, best-practice solutions and individual challenges so interesting. Your social and team skills are also addressed and promoted here.

Your development is important to us and we look forward to you join our team as well!
